Abdul Sameeu is a renowned singer from the Maldives whose musical journey began in 1986 with a band called The Coconuts, formed by the Maldives Scouts.
He later joined the band Jade, where he performed for ten years, during which the group rose to prominence as one of the leading bands in the country. Seeking to refine his craft, Sameeu received professional vocal training in Sri Lanka and went on to become a vocal coach himself.
He then performed with bands such as Freeze and later served as the bassist for Zero Degree for two years. Eventually, he returned to Jade before founding his own band, Akasaka, with which he produced eight albums.
Continuing to evolve in his musical journey, Sameeu now performs with The Black Beast, entertaining audiences at four high-end resorts.
He was awarded the National Award of Recognition for Performing Arts in the field of singing in 2007. His expertise also led him to work as a vocal coach on Season 3 of Maldivian Idol, where many of his trainees have successfully launched their careers in the local music scene.
