Opening of Unveiling Visions 2021
The “Unveiling Visions 2021” exhibition was inaugurated by President Ibrahim
Mohamed Solih on Sunday evening, December 5. This is the largest art exhibition
held in the Maldives and an annual event organized by Maldivian Artist
Community (M.A.C) and National Centre for the Arts. This is the fifth such year
that this exhibition is taking place.
Featuring the works of 67 artists, the aim of this exhibition is to promote
the work of local artists and provide visibility and opportunity for growth for
aspiring young artists. The exhibition’s works are from 7 different categories:
Drawing, Painting, Digital Art, Calligraphy, Sculpture, Installation and Mixed Media.
From these categories, the “Most Vibrant Artist of the Year” is selected and
awarded. The President presented the awards to this year’s award winners:
– Drawing Category: Ismail Maaish
– Calligraphy Category: Hassan Najih
– Mix Media Category: Aishath Sajiyaan Abdul Sattar
– Painting Category: Mariyam Barsha
– Digital Art Category: Ali Imthishal
At the opening ceremony the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Heritage Yumna
Maumoon also inaugurated the “Virtual Gallery” of the National Art Gallery
which showcases their permanent collection.
This exhibition is free and open for public viewing from the 5th
to the 14th of December at the National Art Gallery.
